Otis "Bill" Stockmeyer

Otis William “Bill” Stockmeyer, age 86, of Caseville, died Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe.

Bill was born August 21, 1925 in Detroit to the late Otis Thomas and Helen (Adams) Stockmeyer. He grew up in Caseville and graduated from Detroit Northwestern High School in 1943. He served in the US Navy during World War II as a medic. On November 26, 1955 he married Ida Jean Fraternali.

Bill retired from Norton Company in 1984. After moving from Trenton to Caseville, he would spend winters in New Smyrna Beach. He was a charter member of the Caseville Eagles #3690, a member of the Moose and the American Legion. He enjoyed Dixieland and Big Band music, and being an active and involved member of the community.

Surviving are his wife Ida; children Jeri (Mark) Lathrop of Perrysburg, Ohio, Susan (Chuck) Anderson of Bad Axe and David (Amy) Stockmeyer of Farmington; grandchildren Ellen, Betsy, Mariah, Tony and Jason; and numerous special nieces and nephews, including Jim & Vicki Fraternali, Brenda & Al McDonald, Nancy & Carol Stockmeyer and Linda Hammerling.

He was preceded in death by his brother Thomas Stockmeyer.

A memorial service will be at 11:00 am Tuesday, October 25th at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville with Chaplain Karen Bourverette officiating. Urn burial with military honors will be in Caseville Twp Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 pm Monday at the funeral home. There will be an Eagles Ritual at 6:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
