Owen “Bob” Herzog, 86, of Mud Creek died Saturday, September 15, 2012 at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon.
Bob was born March 23, 1926 on the family farm in Chandler Twp to the late Henry and Marie (Rhode) Herzog. He attend Farver and Mud Creek Country Schools and Pigeon High School before entering in the US Navy. Bob proudly served in the Pacific Theater on several submarines during World War II. He married Patricia J. Quaine on May 28, 1949 in Lincoln Park, Michigan. She preceded him in death on August 14, 2007.
After marrying he settled in the Downriver area and raised his family. He retired from Metro Machine Works in Romulus as a maintenance man and moved from Southgate to Mud Creek in 1991. He was a member of the Caseville American Legion, Caseville Retirement Club, and the Michigan Chapter of the Submarine Veterans.
He is survived by his children Ronald (Diane) of Rochester Hills, Patricia Lemerand of Flat Rock, Bryan of Southgate, James of Southgate and Allen of Colorado; grandchildren Kerrie, Jessica, Thomas, Courtney, Christopher, Blake, Cameron, Jenifer and Elizabeth; and sisters Frances Taylor of Illinois and Irene Renn of Riverview. He was preceded in death by his brothers Richard, Arnold, Roland and Vincent, and sisters Viola, Hazel and Marilyn.
Funeral services will be at 3 pm Tuesday, September 18th at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville with Rev. Karen Bouverette officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Caseville American Legion. Interment will be at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Emmett.
Visitation will be from noon until the time of the service on Tuesday.
