Patrick Michael Hurst

Patrick Michael Hurst of Caro, age 65, passed away on Monday, April 10, 2023 at Ascension St. Mary's Hospital in Saginaw. Patrick was born April 17, 1957 in St. Johns, the son of the late Clyde Francis and Kathleen Nadine (Daniher) Hurst. After graduating high school, Patrick attended Michigan State University where he obtained a Master of Social Work degree. On September 8, 1984, he married the former Sandra Malott in Lansing, and the couple celebrated nearly thirty-nine years of marriage. Patrick began his career working in community mental health in the Lansing area before moving to Caro in 1983 to take a position at the Caro Regional Center, before he eventually transitioned into rehabilitation services in 1989. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time at his cabin up north, reading, and doing genealogy research. But most of all, Patrick loved spending time with and spoiling his grandchildren. Left to honor Patrick's memory are his wife, Sandy Hurst of Caro; his children, Sarah Hurst of Caro, Ryan (Helen) Hurst of Silverwood, and Sean (Faith Petterson) Hurst of Shelby Township; three grandchildren, Elliot, Olivia, and Ellie; and a sister, Lisa Hurst (Steve Raymer). In keeping with Patrick's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial gathering will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2023 in the back room of Brentwood in Caro. A Time of Remembrance will take place at 1:00 p.m. during which friends and family are invited to share their favorite memories of Patrick.
