Pattie Jane Wiltse

Pattie Jane Wiltse of Caro, age 87, passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2022 at McLaren - Caro Region. Pattie was born January 29, 1935 in Saginaw, the daughter of the late August Carl and Sarah Jane (Grumbley) Ertel. She graduated Cum Laude from Caro High School in 1953 and continued her studies to become a registered nurse. It was in high school Pattie met the love of her life, Dorr Norman Wiltse, Jr. They were united in marriage on August 25, 1956, sharing over sixty-six years, two beautiful daughters, and countless memories. Pattie worked at the old Caro Community Hospital, private duty at St. Joseph's Hospital, for a short while at Pontiac General, and at the Ionia County Community Hospital. She helped in the office when needed in Ionia, Caro, and the Tuscola County Medical Care Community. Pattie volunteered with the hospice program through St. Mary's Hospital, a role she found exceptionally gratifying. She was the co-owner and operator of the Caro Decorating Center and a charter member of the Watrousville-Caro Area Historical Society and S.G.H. Alumni Association. Pattie was a past member of the Caro Community Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, Caro Chamber of Commerce and Tuscola County Medical Care Community Family Council. Pattie enjoyed working on crafts, spending time at "the shack", was always up for meeting new people, and loved to travel. She was a magnificent gardener and an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers. Above all else, Pattie loved being with her family, they were the lights of her life. She will be missed by all who knew her. Pattie leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, Norm Wiltse, Jr.; daughters, Linda Mis and Debra (William) Sholten; grandsons, Adam Jacob Sholten, Trevor (Sara) Sholten, and Jeremy Sholten; great-grandchildren, Henry, Wyatt, and Lucy Sholten; sister-in-law, Sharon (Jim) Keckler; nephews, Charles (Angela) Keckler and Joseph Keckler; great-nephew, Alex Keckler; god-children, Pattie Gaudett, Dennis Hadaway, and Jane McCrea; and several friends. A funeral ceremony will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. Burial will follow at Indianfields Township Cemetery. Pattie's family will be present to receive visitors on Thursday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Cass River Pet FriendZ.
