Paul Richard Klaus

Paul Richard Klaus, age 66, of Sebewaing, passed away with loving family by his side, Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at McLaren Bay Regional after a year-long illness.

Paul was born April 5, 1953, in Deckerville, to Richard and Donna (Bishop) Klaus. He spent his childhood on the family farm in Deckerville, and his high school years in Venice, Florida, graduating from Venice High School in 1971. He attended Saginaw Valley College and graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice. From there he started his law enforcement career in 1974 working for Almont and Imlay City before settling in Sebewaing, where he served as Chief of Police for 4 of his 20 years there. Paul thoroughly enjoyed his 8 years as a school bus driver for the Unionville-Sebewaing Area School District. He loved boating, fishing, hunting, and golfing with family and friends and traveling the country with his love, Jan. He and Jan made their winter home in Brownsville, Texas where he was always the life of the party. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his precious grandchildren.

Paul is survived by his wife, Janice (Seabolt) Klaus, and mother, Donna Klaus, both of Sebewaing; 5 children: Lisa (Branden) Gettel of Sebewaing, Laura Gilbert (Patrick Andreas) Chesaning, Brandon (Amanda) Fisher of Grand Rapids, Trevor (Jackie) Morgan of Oxford, and Doug (Erin) Morgan of Sheridan; Brother, Phillip (Cindy) Klaus of Cass City, 16 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.

Paul was welcomed to his eternal home by his father, Richard Klaus and infant granddaughter, Lizzie Morgan.

Visitation will be Sunday, November 3 ^rd , 2019, at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing, from 3-7pm.

The funeral service will be Monday, November 4 ^th , 2019, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sebewaing. Visitation will begin at 10am until the time of service at 11 am.

A private burial service will take place at Downing Cemetery in Deckerville.
