Paul “Wayne” LaPratt of Caro, age 91, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024 at Tuscola County Medical Care Community with his family by his side. Wayne was born July 20, 1932 in Akron, the son of the late Joseph “Ludger” and Ara Rose (Flynn) LaPratt. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War, receiving the Silver Star. Following his return home, Wayne went on to work for Massoll’s Garage, Auto Appraisal, and the Tuscola County Road Commission as a Shop Foreman, retiring at the age of sixty-two. He was a dedicated parishioner of St. Christopher Parish, Sacred Heart Church and former member of the Knights of Columbus. Wayne enjoyed his morning coffee at Burger King, perusing Walmart, and watching football. In his younger years he raced stock cars in Owendale and liked to go fishing. Wayne had a great sense of humor and you could always count on him for a good joke or prank. He loved visiting with his family and would tell the best stories.
Wayne leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Gregory (Annette) LaPratt, Sue (Dean) Johnson, and Jeff LaPratt; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Audrey Nickert; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his siblings, Jerry LaPratt, Angela LaPratt, Monica Wisenbach, Richard LaPratt, Thurmon LaPratt, and Ione Sparks.
A graveside committal will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association.
