Paul Dean Matthews

Paul Dean Matthews of Cass City, age 83, passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2022 at his home with his loving family by his side. Paul was born August 31, 1938 in Saginaw, the son of the late Thomas and Lavina (Drahmer) Matthews. After high school, Paul joined the U.S. Army and proudly served his country from 1956 until 1962. On December 15, 1959, Paul married the love of his life, the former Donna June Kelley. Together they shared almost sixty-three years of marriage, wonderful children & grandchildren, and countless memories. Paul was a great mechanic and always enjoyed tinkering with cars. He was a member of the Caro Church of the Nazarene, and liked to fish and hunt in his younger years. Above all else, Paul loved time spent with his family, his wife, children, and grandchildren were the lights of his life. Paul leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Donna; daughter, Beverly (Dale) Clink; grandchildren, Dale Clink II, Casey Clink, Paula (Jake Simpson) Mead, Barbett Mead, and Erika (fianc, Derek Nichols) Clink; great-grandchildren, Makena Bristol, Jordan Hornbacher, Caleb Clink, Otto Clink, and Maverick Simpson; sisters and brothers-in-law, Victoria Kelley, Hazel Kelley, Winifred (Chuck) Collins, and Robert (Kumpu) Kelley; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his infant son, Robert Matthews; daughter, Barbara Mead; grandparents; siblings, Loren, Les, Ken, Cliff, Shirley, Velma, and Lorene. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at Caro Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Paul McNett officiating. Burial with military honors under the auspices of the Caro American Legion Post #7 and the U.S. Army will follow at Ellington Township Cemetery. Paul's family will be present to receive visitors at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of his service.
