Paulette Bowers Hebert Cummins, 75, of Caseville passed away Sunday, September 26, 2021 at home under hospice care.
Paulette was born May 26, 1946 in Detroit to the late Frank and Emily (Corcoran) LaFontaine. She moved from Detroit to Caseville in her teens and her family owned and operated the Caseville Dairy Bar (now Walt’s). She drove school bus for Caseville Public School for 21 years and then operated Cummins AFC Home in Caseville where she cared for others for over 20 years. During summers she cooked at the American Legion for the Senior Meal Program. She enjoyed fishing, hunting, morel and asparagus hunting, playing Euchre, cooking and feeding everyone and being barefoot. Nurturing others was her calling, she did that by raising her own 8 children, then caring for others through her adult foster care home, then spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children Cecil Edward (Melissa Govea) Byrnes of Marlette, Jerry Michael (Christine) Bowers of Caseville, Kim (Gerry) Rintoul of Standish, Terry (Missy) Bowers of Warren, Kelly (Wesley) Armbruster of Beaverton, Mary Kay “KK” Hebert of Caseville and Norahray (Charles) Hartman of Sebewaing; grandchildren Jonathan (Samantha) Michalczak, Jerry Michael (Crystal) Bowers, Gavin Bowers, Miranda Bowers, Valerie Bowers, Christopher (Phillip) Plonta, Amanda (Quincy) Davis-Plonta, Dayne (Jessica) Langworthy, Anthony (Jacky) Bowers, TJ Bowers, Brittany (Dustin) Bowers, Naythan (Kim) Bowers, Zackary (Tancy) Bowers, Joshua Bowers, Austin Bowers, Haley (Nathan) Schulz, Roy (Leah) Klosowski, Ty Tennant, Ayriona Maikrzek, Kaylee Cummins, Hazel Hartman, Liam Hartman, Shannon (Bart) Wiegert, Darryl (Charissa) Webster, Brandon (Eliza) Webster, Emily (Nick) Byrnes, Nathan Byrnes, and Cecil “Miles” Byrnes; great-grandchildren Emma Lee, Leeland, Alaric, Skyelynn, Kiernan, Persia, Xaveria, Quincy Jr., Devin, Carter, Marshall, Ruby, Vincent, Louisa, Jordan, Jackson, Benjamin, Shawn, Katie, Troy, Hattie, Grace, Maddie, Cameron, Megan, Kendra, Fayth, Lorelei, Rylan, Liam, Ruby, Eisley, Quintin, Braelyn, Hudson, Chyann, Ian, Rylee, and Jozlyn; brother Richard (Connie) LaFontaine of Midland and sister Ruthie (Marvin) Cross of Florida; adopted son Kevin Perry; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Tony Bowers, husband Alfred Hebert, husband Raymond Cummins, sister Emily LaFontaine and brother Frank LaFontaine; and faithful companion, her beloved cat Sugar.
Funeral services will be at a later date. Champagne Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
