Pauline Amend

Pauline M. Amend, age 89, passed away on Monday, October 31, 2011 at Amazing Love AFC Home in Caro, following a lengthy illness. She was born on July 18, 1922 in Reese, the daughter of the late George and Marie (Kaiser) Miller, and was a lifelong area resident. Pauline was united in marriage with Michael S. Amend on May 10, 1941 in Reese. He preceded her in death on August 1, 2007. Pauline owned and operated a beauty shop in Watrousville from the 1950s until 1975. For the next ten years, she sold real estate for L.S. Luba Real Estate. In her early years, she was active in 4-H and Cub Scouts. She continued her association with the Watrousville Mothers Club and the Polish American Club, and was active in organizing senior trips and other activities. Pauline was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro. She enjoyed square dancing, working in her flower and vegetable gardens, and fishing. Pauline was also a loyal Detroit Tigers fan. Pauline is survived by three sons and their wives, Gerald & Jan Amend, Michael & JoAnn Amend, and John Amend, all of Caro; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Kim & Elliott Vinson, Joe & Mary Amend, Scott and Steven Amend, Dawn & Matt Branding, James & Kandace Amend, Marcy & James McKinnon; twelve great-grandchildren, Ashley Farnum, Jared and Hayleigh Vinson, Jonah, Grace and Claire Branding, Katherine, Nicholas and Lauren Amend, Samantha, Jacob and Madison McKinnon; one great-great-grandson, Joey Bean; many nieces and nephews.
