Pauline Josephine Gainforth

Pauline Josephine Gainforth (Volk), age 90, of Unionville, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Vadavilla AFC Home in Unionville.

She was born in Akron on October 5, 1926 to Joseph and Anna Volk. She married Merle Raphel "Ray" Gainforth in February 1954. Pauline was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She was a life-long Catholic and and active member of her local parish. She worked as Akron Township Clerk for 40 years. Pauline was an avid fan of her children and grandchildren's' sporting and school events. She also loved her large extended Volk and Gainforth families, crosswords, the Pistons and participating with other members of the Christian faith community.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Mary Beth, husband Ray, brothers, Joseph, Carl, Stanley and Donald, sister Dorothy and sister-in-law's Helen, Effie and Betty Volk as well as many wonderful brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-laws.

She is survived by her sister Donna Volk and sister-in-law Ella Mae Miller. She is also survived by her children, Loren, Carla (Sam), Mark (Brenda), Lisa (Jim). Grandchildren, Shaun (Katie), Isaiah (Sarah), Sam (Michele), Tony, David (Sarah), Megan (Charlie), Rebekah (Matt), Abigail, Lucas, Jared , Joshua, and Matthew. Great-grandchildren, Luke, Noah, Judah, Isaac, Elsa, Ruth, Teagan, Faith and one grandson on the way.

Visitation will be held at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 from 1-8pm.

The funeral service will be Thursday, March 9, 2017, at Our Lady Consolata Catholic Church, Holy Family site. Visitation will begin at the church at 10am until the time of service at 11am.

Burial will take place at 2pm at Hickory Island Cemetery in Akron Twp.

Memorial donations may be given to the USA Athletic Dept. or Our Lady Consolata Catholic Church.
