Pearl Baker, age 86, died Monday morning, January 26, at the Huron County Medical Care Facility.
She was born February 26, 1917 in Flint to the late Fred and Mary (Troy) Hollinshead. She moved with her family to the U. P. in her youth and moved quit frequently following the lumber camps.
In 1933, she moved to Elkton to live with her grandparents. While here she met Robert E. Baker, they were married December 14, 1935 at the Bad Axe Methodist parsonage. They were members of the Elkton United Methodist Church and farmed in Oliver Twp. for many years. They moved in to town in the mid nineties. Bob preceded her in death February 14, 1997.
Surviving are three sons, Kenneth (Marjorie) Baker of Elkton, Duane (Penny) Baker of Paw Paw and Martin (Debbie) Baker of Elkton; two daughters, Marian (Charles) Thomas of Temperance and Katherine (Mike) Maurer of Vassar; fourteen grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, George (Laura) Hollinshead of Seney and Rubin (Faith) Hollinshead of McMillan; three sisters, Margaret (Jim) Maxon of Munising, Anna Marie (Devere) Layman of Fairview and Patricia (Russ) Mark of McMillan and a sister-in-law, Margaret Hollinshead of Seney.
Preceding her in death were a granddaughter, Abby Baker; four sisters, Marian Wiertella, Collean Williams, Velma French and Almina Irey and two brothers, Jim and Elmer Hollinshead.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, January 31, at the Elkton United Methodist Church. Rev. Pete Crawford, pastor will officiate with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Elkton.
Friends may call at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton from 2 to 9 PM Friday and at the church after 10 AM Saturday.
Memorials may be given to the church.
