Pearl Barbara Gielow, 96, of Pigeon, formerly of Sterling Heights, died Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at the United Hospice Service of Marlette Hospital.
She was born December 26, 1921 in Detroit to the late Frank and Pearl (Kosecki) Klimek. She married James W. Gielow on March 4, 1946 at St. Paul on the Lake Catholic Church in Grosse Pointe; he preceded her in death May 31, 2008.
Pearl was an accomplished artist and teacher in china painting. She was a member of the Michigan China Painters Guild. Having had a cottage in Caseville for over 50 years, she moved to Huron County in 2009 and retired to Country Bay Village.
She is survived by her children William (Barbara) of Marlette, Paul (Peggy) of Rochester Hills and Sue (Charles) Langley of Caseville; 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her four siblings: Laura, Ralph, Francis and Clement.
A funeral mass will be 10:00am Friday, January 26 th at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Pigeon with Fr. Robert Pare presiding. Burial will be in Caseville Twp Cemetery. She will lie in-state one hour prior to mass on Friday. Champagne Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements. Memorials may be made to United Hospice Service of Marlette Hospital.
