Peter Bennick

Peter Walter Bennick, age 85, passed away on Sunday, October 28, 2012 at his Mayville home. Peter was born March 9, 1927 on the family farm in Wells Township, the youngest son of the late Michael and Antoniette (Kapusta) Beniuk. Peter enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during World War II. Upon his return from the military, he moved to Detroit and went to work for Cadillac Motor Company. He later went to work for W.T. Andrew Company, retiring in 1987. He was active with the Royal Oak Chapter of the V.F.W., an active member of the Teamsters Retiree Club, and a member of the Tuscola County Polish American Club. Peter enjoyed gardening, being outdoors, watching the Detroit Tigers and making applesauce. Peter is survived by his daughter, Karen Pfriem and her husband, Jeff of Powell, Ohio; three grandchildren, Tyler Pfriem, Cassie Abke and James Abke; one great-grandchild, Kailye Abke; one brother-in-law, Ted Stanislawski of Caro; one sister-in-law, Louise Bennick of Port Arthur, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Dale Bennick; four brothers, Steve, Paul, Walter and Edward Bennick; four sisters, Anna Brigham, Helen Maciejewski, Rose Stanislawski and Mary Nowakowski; one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro with Rev. Dennis Kucharczyk officiating. Burial will follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Caro. The family will receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to Country Hill Home of Mayville.
