Peter John Romain

Peter John Romain of Caro, age 61, passed away suddenly on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at his home. Pete was born January 16, 1954 in Caro, the son of the late Lawrence and Mary Helen (Weis) Romain. He was united in marriage with the former Katherine V. Sokol on July 11, 1987 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro. Pete was a member of IBEW Local #876 as a Journeyman Lineman for twenty-three years, and was able to spend the last several months working with and training his son. He was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church in Caro and was a 3rd Degree Member of the Caro Knights of Columbus Council #3224. Pete was also an avid golfer and played on several leagues over the years. A constant family man and tremendously proud father, Pete would do anything for his children. He was happiest outdoors, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Pete is survived by his wife, Katherine V. Romain of Caro; two children, Mark & Hillary Romain of Millington, and Marnie Romain and friend, Codey Rogers, of Caro; his children from a previous marriage, Amanda Ledl and Chad Romain; six siblings and their spouses, Lawrence Romain of Caro, Helen & Dwaine Peters of Cass City, Mary Jo & Robert Ward of Caro, Clyde & Connie Romain of Caro, Dave & Diane Romain of Caro, Tom & Betsy Romain of Adrian; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death his step-mother, Eldora Romain; one sister, Lorca Diana Romain; and his step-father, Ken Barton. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at St. Christopher Parish, Sacred Heart Campus in Caro with Rev. John Ladd officiating. Military honors under the auspices of the Caro American Legion Post #7 and the U.S. Army will follow the service. In keeping with Pete's wishes, cremation will follow. The family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. A Rosary Service, led by the Caro Knights of Columbus Council #3224, will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
