Peter Rozumny

Peter V. Rozumny, age 67, passed away on Friday, December 7, 2012 at his home, following a nine month illness. He was born August 14, 1945 in Caro, the son of the late Michael & Katherine (Doroska) Rozumny and was a lifelong Caro and Kingston area resident. Following his service with the U.S. Army in Vietnam, Peter attended several years of college, then became a tool and die setter at the Chrysler Sterling Heights Plant for the next thirty-two years, retiring in 1999. Peter was united in marriage with the former Janet E. Porritt on September 19, 1998. Following his retirement, Peter and his wife enjoyed traveling all over the United States, visiting with family and seeing countless natural wonders. He also enjoyed working on his home and expanding the grounds around it, as well as restoring old autos and tractors. Peter was member of Mt. Moriah Lodge #226 F&AM, the Bay City Valley Scottish Rite, the Caro American Legion Post #7, and a life member of the Kingston V.F.W. Post #5317. Peter is survived by his loving wife, Janet E. Rozumny of Caro; five children and their spouses, Alvin Porritt of Clifford, Tina & Bill Stanko of Clifford, Cindy & Gregg Smith of Oakley, Dion & Gina Rozumny of Egan, Minnesota, Mark & Tanya Porritt of Gaylord; twelve grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; three brothers and one sister, Myron & Nancy Rozumny of Traverse City, Steve Rozumny of Detroit, Nicholas & Mary Rozumny of Stowe, Ohio, Olga Miller of Charlotte, North Carolina and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Peter was preceded in death by seven brothers, August, Theodore, Michael, Ivan, William, Eugene, Emil and Roman Rozumny; two sisters, Ann Kapolinski and Pauline Young. In keeping with Peters wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 17, 2012 at the Caro V.F.W. Post #4164. The family will receive friends at the Caro V.F.W.
