Peter Zechmeister

Peter Zechmeister of Caro, age 90, passed away on Friday, April 2, 2021 at McLaren Bay Special Care Hospital in Bay City. Peter was born May 27, 1930 in Yugoslavia, the son of the late Peter and Matija (Kovagevic) Zechmeister. He was united in marriage with the former Katherine Belfinger on January 30, 1954, and she survives. Peter was employed as a tool and die maker in the automotive industry. Following his retirement, Peter and his family owned and operated a resort in Houghton Lake for several years prior to moving to Caro. Peter is survived by his loving wife, Katherina; one son, Tony Zechmeister of Caro; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sons, Peter, Stefan and Joseph Zechmeister. In keeping with Peter's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Saint Christopher Parish, Sacred Heart Church in Caro with Rev. Christopher Coman officiating. The family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a time of remembrance at 7:30 p.m. lead by Rev. Michele Hile.
