Philip Tinsey, 83, of Caseville, died Saturday, April 2, 2011 at his home while under hospice care.
Philip was born January 20, 1928 in Detroit to the late Ward and Beatrice (Bishop) Tinsey. He graduated from Detroit Pershing High School in 1946. He served in the US Air Force and was recalled to the Army during the Korean War. On March 14, 1953 he married June Marie Bowman at the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Ferndale.
He and June settled in Royal Oak and raised their family. Phil worked at Consumer’s Power from 1953 until retiring in 1988. His family had a cottage near Caseville since the 1940's and he moved there permanently after his retirement. He enjoyed sharing good times and laughter with family and friends in his home on the lake or during the winter in Bonita Springs, Florida. He was an avid performance car buff and race fan. He was a member of the Caseville United Methodist Church and the Caseville Eagles.
He is survived by his wife June; sons Phillip Brent and his wife Joan of Ortonville and Richard Ward and his wife Dawn of Caro; grandsons Jonathan, Matthew (Shaina), Travis, Justin, and Tyler; sister Marilyn and her husband Lester Heck of Warren; 3 nieces and 1 nephew.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Saturday, April 9th at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville with Rev. Karl Zeigler officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Caseville Township Cemetery.
Visitation will be 11:00 am to 2:00 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the United Hospice Service.
