Phyllis J. Forster, age 62, of Elkton, died Wednesday morning, April 17, at Scheurer Hospital, Pigeon of Lou Gehrig’s disease.
She was born December 12, 1939, in Kokomo, IN daughter of the late Stanley and Pauline (Creason) Keel. Phyllis’ family moved to Cass City when she was four years old, she attended school there and was a 1957 graduate.
On June 7, 1958, she was united in marriage to Gerald (Hap) Forster at the Trinity Lutheran Parsonage, Elkton.
For twenty years, Phyllis took care of the community board in Elkton, stepping down for health reasons. She kept track of local birthday’s anniversaries and other local events. In 2001, the Elkton Lions Club presented her with the “Citizen of the Year” award for her involvement in the community.
Phyllis was a life long member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Elkton. She enjoyed word find puzzles and reading.
Surviving are her husband, Gerald (Hap); five children, David (Sue) of Decker, Paul (Michelle) of Warren, Jeff (Sonya) of Lexington, SC, Jayne (Scott Parks) Forster of Elkton, and Troy (Tara) of Lexington, SC; one sister, Cheryl (Jerry) Moore of Monicello, IN; and 14 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Monday, April 22, at Trinity Lutheran Church. Rev. Eldon Bickel, pastor will officiate with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Elkton.
Friends may call at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton from 7-9:00 P.M. Saturday, 2-9:00 P.M. Sunday and at the church after 10:00 A.M. on Monday.
Memorials may be given to the Trinity Lutheran Church.
