Phyllis May Sharpsteen

Phyllis May Sharpsteen, age 91, passed away peacefully at her home on hospice care with her grandsons by her side, on March 6, 2025.

Phyllis was born in Hillsdale County, Camden, Michigan, on the family farm, to Harold A and Dorothy C (Nevins) Jagger. She attended Camden Frontier Schools, graduating from Hillsdale High School. She then attended Michigan State University where she attended a short time then married her sweetheart, Fredrick D. Sharpsteen. Together they moved to Sebewaing and ran an apple orchard just out of town for many years. She also was the head cook at the Unionville-Sebewaing Area Schools for many years. Phyllis was very active at Bay Shore Camp cooking many meals for campers and headed up all the funeral luncheons at Trinity United Methodist Church in Sebewaing. She was very active at the church also heading up the food pantry and helped with the Sugar Festival church concession stand. She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening and working puzzles. Phyllis will be remembered for her "service" and serving others.

Phyllis is survived by her two children: Fredric Sharpsteen of Big Rapids, MI and Michele Galagher of Brisbane, Australia; her grandchildren: Kimberly (Josh) Griffith, Jacob Sharpsteen, Michael Sharpsteen, Nimer Jaber and Jonathan Galagher; great grandchildren: Luke, Natalie and Meredith; sister, Sharon Hukill; sister-in-law, Phyllis Jagger; and many nieces and nephews.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her husband, Fredrick; and siblings: Don Jagger, Maxine Van Wormer, Ardice Casarda, Leonard Jagger and Dale Jagger.

Phyllis's wishes were to have cremation take place and no services.
