Priscilla Ann Rhodes Bell of Sebewaing, age 89, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Bay View Gardens in Sebewaing. Priscilla was born August 8, 1936, in Caro, to Norman & Mamie (Saffran) Rhodes. She graduated from Saginaw High School in 1954. After working two previous jobs, she retired in 1996 from the Caro State Hospital after twenty-nine years of service to them.
On August 17,1957 she married Garry Lee Bell, who preceded her in death in 1997. They had one daughter, Mary Ellen Bell, who died at birth on June 5,1962. She married Elmer Lewis on November 21, 2004, and he preceded her in death in 2012.
Priscilla was also preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Maime Rhodes; brothers, Norman Lee (Sonny) Rhodes and Kenneth Wayne (Diane) Rhodes; sister, Janet Lee Rhodes Stringer; stepmother, Ardra Rhodes; grandparents, Clyde and Edna Rhodes, and Alvanze and Edna Robinson; sisters-in-law, Donna Austin and Barbara (DeWayne) Austin; brothers-in-law, Bill Bell and Jim Heckman; and parents-in-law, Arnold and Maxine Bell.
The relatives who survive to cherish her memory are her sister, Lynell (Tony) Ferrante; sisters-in-law, Ruth Ann Rhodes and Sue Heckman; and brother-in-law, Dave (Phyllis) Bell. She is also survived by the caring stepchildren of her second husband Elmer, Linda Lewis Hodder, Peggy Lewis (Mike Jones), Mark (Mary) Lewis, Angie (Dave) Lewis Dietzel, and Paul (Tawny) Lewis; as well as many treasured nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Even though Priscilla endured many struggles in life, she always chose to look at things with optimism. She refused to focus on what would take her joy away and remained cheerful and full of fun in everything she did! She believed in Angels and could be overheard telling others, “Don’t drive faster than your Guardian Angel can fly!" Her favorite song, “I’ve Had a Wonderful Life” by Carroll Roberson, could also be considered the theme song of her life.
A funeral service for Priscilla will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the Ransford Funeral Home in Caro with Pastor Lee Rhodes presiding. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Friday, April 10, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday.
It is Priscilla’s wish that any and all memorials be made to the care of Bay View Gardens Assisted Living Facility, 628 East Main Street, Sebewaing, MI 48759, as they treated her with loving kindness and went above and beyond to accommodate her during her three years in their facility, for which she was very grateful.
