Rachel Edith Congdon

Rachel Edith Congdon of Caro, age 88, passed away on Friday, April 13, 2018 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Community in Caro. Rachel was born July 26, 1929 in Gilford, the daughter of the late Eli and Edith (Freeman) Putman. She was united in marriage with Earl J. Congdon on June 27, 1947 in Gilford and he preceded her in death on December 16, 1976. Rachel was a homemaker and enjoyed bingo, dancing, and playing cards. She is survived by three children and their spouses, Robert & Sharon Congdon, Jacquelin & Richard Palmer, and Terry Congdon; twenty-four grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Kermit Arnold Presley; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Rachel was preceded in death by five children, Mary Presley, Janet Adams, Irene Whittredge, Joan Simmons and David Congdon; one grandson, Mark E. Simmons; and one great-grandson, Justin John Presley; and eleven brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. Burial will follow at Indianfields Township Cemetery in Caro. The family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to Cass River Pet Friendz in memory of Rachel.
