Rev. Ralph Thomas Cass, 79, of Sebewaing, passed away Monday, June 28, 2021 at Toni and Trish Hospice Home in Auburn.
Tom was born February 14, 1942 in Cripple Creek, Colorado to the late William and Dagmar (Young) Sythoff. After serving in the US Navy, he moved to Pontiac, Michigan. In 1989 he retired from General Motors-Fischer Body in Pontiac. He married Lyvonne Walls Hughes on April 19, 1997. They moved to Tennessee for 5 years and then to the Thumb in 2002, first to Caseville and later Sebewaing.
In retirement he began a second career in ministry, pastoring Faith Bible Baptist Church in Sebewaing and as a chaplain for Huron County Jail. He is a member of Son’s Life Missionary Church in Sebewaing.
Tom is survived by his wife N. Lyvonne; son Richard Cass of Georgia; step-daughters Alana Sue Fowler of Georgia and Amber (Michael) Angona of Clarkston; daughter-in-law Tammie Cass of Kentucky; 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; sister Judy (Gary) Wantz of California and brother Otto Cass of Ohio. He was preceded in death by his first wife Barbara, parents, step-father Gene Cass, son Robert, and two brothers.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Thursday, July 1st at Son’s Life Missionary Church in Sebewaing with Rev. Brian Reinhardt officiating. Burial will be in Christian Memorial Cemetery, Rochester Hills. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in church.
