Ralph Albert Corkins, age 75 years, of Saginaw Road, Mayville, passed away on Friday, October 27, 2006. He was born on May 17, 1931 in Vassar, and lived in the Vassar area all of his life. Ralph was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He has been married to the former Ramonna Penn for more than 50 years. During his working life, Ralph was an iron pourer at first Vassar Electricloid and then Bosticks Foundry in Lapeer. Throughout his life, he enjoyed outdoor activities, hunting and fishing, as well as being an avid participant of auction and garage sales. He is survived by his wife, Ramonna; one son, Robin Corkins of Vassar; his siblings, Mildred Kinney of Reese, Frank (Olga) Corkins of Flint, Clarence (Pearl) Corkins of Sanford, Elizabeth Pomeroy of Bay City, Viola Pray of Saginaw and Febe (Larry) Zamora of Bay City; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by one daughter, Julie Ann Corkins. The funeral service will be held at the Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. with Christopher Taylor facilitating. Burial will be at East Lawn Memorials Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 1:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Ralph Corkins family discretionary fund, c/o Ramonna Corkins.
