Ralph Eugene Robison, age 86, of Caro passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2009 at St. Marys of Michigan, Saginaw. He was born on November 8, 1923 at Otter Lake to the late Oscar and Grace (Coe) Robison. Ralph was a Fostoria High graduate. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Ralph and the former Vernitta (Reamer) Ashcroft were united in marriage on April 22, 1967 in Otter Lake. Following his military service, he worked as a professional house painter, worked for a period of time at the Lapeer State Home and Training School, and then on the assembly line with General Motors (Fisher Body) for twenty years, until his retirement. Ralph loved the game of golf and spent hours at Arrowhead, crossword puzzles, playing games and watching game shows. He also enjoyed playing euchre, fishing, hunting, and playing guitar. He and his wife were baptized on December 13, 2009 by Rev. Damian Wrobel at St. Marys Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Vernitta; two daughters and their mother, Patty Robison of Otter Lake, Gail Robison of Lapeer, and Christine Hunter of Lapeer; two sons, Gordon (Judy) Ashcroft of Vassar and Thomas Ashcroft of Caro; eight grandchildren, Debbie (Chris) Love of Davison, Rhonda (Brendan) Hope of Mason, Amy Dixon of Lapeer, Melissa (Scott) Wicker of Mason, Tania McGinzie of Flint, Tracy (Jack) Thompson of Sebewaing, Amanda (Brian) Thompson of Caro and Edward Ashcroft of Caro; nine great-grandchildren; his siblings, Clara Morris of Davison and Wilda McLean of Holly; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter and a great-grandson, Terry and Austin Ashcroft; the remainder of his siblings, Kenneth, Ronald, Bill, and Joyce; and his step- mother, Beaulh Robison. The funeral service will be held at Collon Funeral Home on Monday, December 21, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Damian Wrobel officiating. Burial will be at Indianfields Township Cemetery with military honors afforded by Caro V.F.W. Post #4164 and the U.S. Army. Visitation will be held at the Collon Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 pm and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to St. Marys of Michigan or Heartland Hospice.
