Randy L. Carter

Randy Lee Carter, age 59 of Bay Port, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Covenant Healthcare Cooper in Saginaw.
Born in Pigeon on August 9, 1954, Randy was the son of Russell A. and Edna M. (Hyde) Carter, and was a 1974 Laker High School graduate. On July 7, 1973, he was united in marriage to Sandra J. Lawhorn in Bay Port.
Randy worked as a commercial fisherman for 39 years, first at Engelhard Fish Company in Bay Port, then at the Bay Port Fish Company, where he had worked longer than any other employee. He also farmed with the Baur Brothers.
Randy especially loved his grandchildren and his family. He enjoyed his work, and working on projects in his shop. He also liked playing Pogo.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy, of Bay Port; two children, Ann Marie Carter of Elkton and Robert Carter of Bay Port; two grandchildren, Lyssa and Wyatt Tucker; two brothers, Dennis (June) Carter and Bob (Ellen) Carter, both of Bay Port; two sisters, Sadie Schweitzer of Saginaw and Clarissa "Chris" (Norman) Miller of Bad Axe; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, in-laws, and friends. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Dwane; his parents; in-laws; two nieces, one nephew, and one great-nephew.
Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 28, 2013 at the Meyersieck-Bussema Funeral Home, Pigeon, with Elder Terry Brown officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the family discretionary fund.
