Ray Krohn, 64, of Bad Axe, passed away Friday, March 5, 2021 at his home under hospice care surrounded by his family after a courageous 3 year battle with cancer.
Ray was one of a kind with his proud and determined outlook on life, that “Get R Done” now, not tomorrow style. He was raised and taught work ethics on his family farm in Elkton and farmed for many years. He later worked for O’Connor trucking as a semi- truck driver for nearly 20 years until he retired due to health issues.
Ray enjoyed spending time with his family, playing card and board games and frequent side by side rides, often doing his “crop checks”. He prided himself on raising his kids with the same set of hard work, honesty and integrity standards in which he was raised. He especially loved spending time with his granddaughters who brought out his “ softer side” and loved teaching them how to drive a 4-wheeler, side by side, snowmobile and golf cart. He also loved to go fishing with them and spent a lot of time with them both at the neighbor’s pond and on his special nephew Ryan’s boat. Family and friends have said that if a vehicle had a steering wheel, tires, skis, bogie wheels, a stick or a rudder, Ray could not only drive it, but he could drive it well. He enjoyed driving race cars and watching Nascar, riding snowmobiles and hanging out with his buddy Jimmy Meininger at “the little cabin in the woods”. He will truly be missed.
Ray was a member of Michigan Snowmobile Association, St. Helens Snowpackers, Ogemaw Hills Snowmobile club, Pigeon Conservation Club and Caseville Rod & Gun Club.
Ray is survived by his loving wife Lorie of 46 years; children Chuck (Kristi) Krohn of Pigeon, Mindy (Nolan) McIntosh of Freeland; grandchildren Haylee, Ava, Naomi McIntosh,; his mother Anna Marie Krohn of Elkton; siblings Dick (Nancy) Krohn of Elkton, Sally (Rick) Kain of Bad Axe, Linda Krohn of Elkton, Robin (Jon) Elliott of Pigeon; In-laws John (Jill) Bruce of Bay Port, Paul (Val) Smith of Lapeer, Kathie Bruce of Benzonia, Sally Bruce of Pigeon, Barb (Bill) Herford of Elkton, Jim (Harriet) Bruce of Bay Port, Bill (Linda) Bruce of Unionville, Kathy (Randy) Kerr of Bad Axe, Mike (Patty) Bruce of Kinde, Dave (Edwinna) Bruce of Capac, Brad (Pat) Bruce of Waterford; step in-laws, Gary (Paulette) Kivel of Munising, Sherry Burns, and Kevin Kivel of Cass City; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Donald Krohn.
