Raymond E. Gintner, 77, of Sand Point, died at home Sunday, May 22, 2016.
Ray was born March 19, 1939 in Bad Axe to the late Adam and Edna (Arch) Gintner. He graduated from Bad Axe High School in 1958. He served in the US Army from 1959 to 1961. On November 12, 1966 he married Gaye Schweitzer in Bad Axe.
Ray retired as a superintendent from CJ Rogers Construction in Flint. He was a member of Laborers Union Local 1191 and the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Posse. He moved from Lapeer to Sand Point in 2006, and spent winters in Ft. Myers, Florida. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, birds and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Gaye; son Lance (Larisa) of Grand Blanc and daughter Lisa (Jim) Sasko of Saratoga Springs, New York; grandchildren Kade, Taryn, Messina, Cecilia; brother John (Bernie) Gintner of Bad Axe and sister Judy (John) Lipski of Bad Axe; and many other special friends and family. He was preceded in death by his sister Beverly McKnight.
A memorial service will be at 1:00pm Friday, May 27th at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville with Rev. Karen Bouverette officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00am Friday until the time of the service.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
