Raymond Anthony Nowak, 81, of Caseville died Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at his home under hospice care.
Ray was born June 10, 1937 in Flint to the late John and Louise (Jazielski) Nowak. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1955 and then served in the US Air Force in Asia. He married Linda Staggs in 1961, that marriage ended in divorce. He then married Maxine Borgman in 1966 and she preceded him in death in 2000. He married Victoria Gulch Pipe May 7, 2005 at St. Roch Catholic Church in Caseville; she survives him.
Ray was employed by Fisher Body and General Motors, retiring from Flint Metal Fabrication in 1991. He moved to Caseville in 1996 having vacationed there all his life. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, Caseville American Legion and the Caseville Eagles Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife Vicki; son Richard (Catherine Visser) of Davison and daughter Charlotte Nowak of Clio; brother Robert Nowak of St. Ignace; and special friend James Gunther. He was preceded in death by his son David and sisters Helen Krause, Adel Koske and Eleanor Sells.
A funeral mass will be 11:00am Saturday, September 8 th at St. Roch Catholic Church with Fr. Robert Pare presiding. Burial with military honors will be in St. Roch Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-8 Friday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel in Elkton. There will be an Eagles Ritual at 7:00pm Friday followed by a rosary. He will lie in-state Saturday at church an hour prior to mass.
Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Art and Environment Fund or Hospice Compassus. The family would like to thank Fr. Pare, Dr. Khan, Hospice Compassus, Meg, Sandy, Christina, Emily, Lisa and Chaplin Don.
