Raymond A. Sopchik, age 77 years, of Caro, passed away on Friday, January 25, 2008 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 30, 1930 in Wells Township to the late Andrew and Genevieve (Kusnierz) Sopchik, and has lived much of his life in the Caro area. On May 25, 1963 Raymond married the former Lucille Parker at the Caro United Methodist Church, and she survives him. Raymond attended school in Caro and farmed, as well as working campaigns at Michigan Sugar Company, until going to General Cable in Cass City where he worked until his retirement in March of 1989. He enjoyed the out-of-doors, fishing, hunting, gardening and wood crafts. Raymond enjoyed traveling. He is survived by his wife, Lucille; his two brothers and a brother-in-law, Edward F. Sopchik of Beaverton, Andrew L. Jr. and Pamela Sopchik of Caro, Charles Rogers of San Antonio, Texas; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Rogers, and a very close brother-in-law, Leo Parker. A memorial service may be announced at a later date. There will be no visitation at the Collon Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association, Mid-Michigan Chapter, 400 Dartmouth #8, Midland, MI 48640 or Heartland Hospice.
