Reinhold Bannick age 83, of Pigeon, died Friday morning, December 16, at Huron County Medical Care Facility, Bad Axe with his family at his side.
He was born January 4, 1922, in Elkton, one of eight children born to the late Emil and Wilhelmina (Klish) Bannick.
In November of 1942, he was inducted into the US Army and served in Europe and Russia during WW II, returning home in December of 1945.
On June 19, 1948, he was united in marriage to Eva Mae Pawloski at Trinity Lutheran Church, Elkton. They lived in the Elkton-Pigeon area most of their married life, except for 12 years when they lived and farmed in Sheridan Twp. Reinhold had worked at Saginaw Steering Gear for a several years before coming to Active Industries, Elkton, where he was a Hilo driver, retiring from there in 1978 with 37 years of service.
Reinhold loved having his daughters and grandchildren around him, he loved to play euchre and to dance, he also enjoyed working in his vegetable garden.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Linkville and the Golden Ager’s at church.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Eva; five daughters, Donna (Terry) VanDeVoort of Pigeon, Karen (Pat) VanDeVoort of Bay City, Diane (Gary) Brown of North Port, Gayle (Charlie) Forbing of Bad Axe and Jean (Phil) Myers of Caseville; seven grandchildren, Valerie, Brian, Kevin, Andy, Ryan, Adam and Aaron; three great grandchildren, Kendal, Ava and Alexis and his sister, Natalie Bannick of Saginaw.
Preceding him in death were four brothers, Gus, Henry, Herman and Fred and two sisters, Matilida Spindler and Johanna Spindler.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Monday, December 19, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Linkville. Rev. Lee Wenskay, pastor will officiate with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Elkton.
Friends may call at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton from noon until 7 PM Sunday and at the church after 10 AM Monday.
