Rev. Raymond F. Karr of Caro, age 76, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at his home. Ray was born December 21, 1944 in Saginaw, the son of the late Frank & Clara (Yong) Karr. He grew up in the Fairgrove area and graduated from Vassar High School with the class of 1963. Ray was united in marriage the following year with Barbara Pretzer on March 7, 1964 in Gilford, and the couple has celebrated more than fifty-seven years together. Most of Ray's working years were spent with General Motors as an inspector, first at Pontiac Motors and later Saginaw Steering Gear. He retired in 1995 after more than thirty years of service to the company and followed a calling to the ministry. Ray was a devoted student of the Bible and lived a life of profound faith. He was happiest outdoors, fishing, hunting, boating, carving wood, or just enjoying quiet moments of reflection at his cabin in Oscoda. A mentor to many and friend to all, Ray was an almost daily member of a McDonald's coffee group. He adored his family and cherished time spent with them. Ray is survived by his wife, Barbara Karr of Caro; three children, Scott Karr of Fairgrove, Brian Karr of Caro, Kristine LaPratt and her husband, Matt, of Mayville; two grandchildren, Madelynn LaPratt and Leah LaPratt; two sisters, Pat Lewis of Florida and Linda Ciszek of Bay City; two sisters-in-law, Mary Meitz and Linda Gouine; brother-in-law, Dave Pretzer; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kimberly; sisters-in-law, Carol Montei and Barb Pretzer,; and brothers-in-law, Bill Ciszek, Roger Lewis, and Hank Gouine.
