Rev. Peter E. Tysick, Sr. of Caro, age 83, passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at McLaren Medical Center-Lapeer Region. Peter was born July 3, 1930 in Pontiac, the son of the late Peter and Margaret (Edwards) Tysick. He was a Caro High School graduate, a licensed minister and served in both the U.S. Army and Michigan National Guard. Peter worked in Quality Control for Pontiac Motors, retiring after more than thirty years and also drove school bus for ten years. For the last forty-four years, he performed pastoral duties in area nursing homes. Peter was a member of the Living Word Worship Center in Cass City. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed word search, and wood crafts, which led to his ownership of Tysick Wooden Things. Peter is survived by his wife, June; eight children, Peter E. Tysick, Jr. and Richard of Pontiac, Vickie & Tim Merenuk of Mayville, Mike & Pat Tysick of Mayville, Terri & Bryce Whitaker of Mayville, Mark & Hope Tysick of Oxford, Scott & Tina Tysick of Melvindale, Joe & Julie Tysick of Ortonville, Adam & Heather Tysick of Caro; sixteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers and their wives, John & Barbara Tysick of Lapeer, Ken & Bonnie Tysick of Florida; two sisters, Fern & Neil McKinstry of Atlanta, Evelyn Ollie of Ortonville; brother-in-law, Lethal Coe of Missouri; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Matthew Scott; a sister, Rose Coe; and a brother-in-law, Donald Ollie. A graveside memorial service will be held at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 with a church memorial service to follow on April 17, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Living Word Worship Center in Cass City with his son, Bishop Scott M. Tysick of Thrive International Church in Melvindale officiating. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to McLaren Hospice.
