Rex B. Binder

Rex B. Binder of Caro, age 101, passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at St. Mary's of Michigan in Saginaw. Rex was born August 21, 1917 in Bad Axe, the son of the late Irvin and Fay (Capling) Binder. He was united in marriage with the former Dorothy Higley on October 17, 1949 in Caro, and Dorothy preceded him in death on April 12, 2006. In 2007 Rex married Margaret Charney of Cheboygan. She had two children, Dave, John and their spouses, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Margaret passed away on February 14, 2014. Rex's working years began with W. J. Moore Telephone Company and Detroit Edison. He would later sell lawnmowers out of his garage, a side business that became Rex Binder Sales, a company he owned and operated for over fifty years that continues today. He also spent nearly thirty years as a distributor for the Ariens Company and covered much of Michigan. Rex was a member of the Caro United Brethren Church and greatly enjoyed nature. His spare time was often spent fishing, horseback riding, ice skating, planting trees and spending time at his cottage on the Cheboygan River. Rex is survived by four children, Marion Binder of Caro, Lois J. Binder of Saginaw, Ruth F. Binder and her husband, Darwin Heme, of Grand Ledge, Fred Binder and his wife, Chris, of Caro; several cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Rex was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister, Lester Binder, Wayne Binder and Leona Binder. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 26, 2018 at the Caro United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Tony Tomasino officiating. Burial will follow at the Almer Township Cemetery in Caro. The family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Monday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association or the charity of the donor's choice.
