Rex Cramer, age 73, passed away peacefully, Sunday, October 29, 2006 at Aleda E. Lutz V.A. Medical Center in Saginaw, following a lingering illness. He was born January 17, 1933 in Detroit, the son of the late Lee Aaron & Shirley (Tuttle) Cramer, growing up in Reese. He joined the U.S. Army at seventeen, serving in Korea. Following his years in the Army, he enlisted in the Air Force, spending the next 20 years in the Air Force Military Police, retiring in 1971. During his military service, Rex was awarded many commendations and citations, including two Bronze Stars, two Purple Hearts seven Battle Stars and the Silver Star. He was united in marriage to Lorraine Chantiny in Caro on May 17, 1954. After Rexs retirement from the military, the couple returned to Caro. Rex was an active member and former Elder of the Caro First Presbyterian Church. He was a past member, Commander and Chaplain of the Mayville V.F.W.; member, past Commander, Aide de Camp and Chaplain of the D.A.V.; member, past Quartermaster and Chaplain of the Caro V.F.W. Post #4164 and member of the Caro American Legion Post #7. Rex enjoyed reading history books, taking college courses, building models and woodworking items with intricate marquetry designs. Those that knew Rex will always remember his great sense of humor. Rex is survived by his wife of over 52 years, Lorraine Cramer of Caro; two half-sisters, Betty Andrus and Leona Brecktelsbaur, both of Reese, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Cramer.
