Richard J. Addy Sr., age 86, of Caseville, died Sunday, June 22, 2008 at his home while under hospice care.
Dick was born April 15, 1922 in Detroit to the late John and Katherine (Beach) Addy. He graduated from Detroit De La Salle High School in 1940 and the University of Detroit in 1945 with a degree in mechanical engineering. He married Elizabeth Cilc on September 15, 1945 at St. David Catholic Church, Detroit.
Penny and Dick raised their large family in the Detroit area and Cleveland. Dick retired from his business, Addy Machinery Company in Clinton Township in 1987 and moved to their home in Caseville.
He was an eucharistic minister at St. Roch Catholic Church, and a member of the Caseville Eagles and Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed boating, swimming, poker, and watching sunsets from his home on Saginaw Bay.
Surviving are his wife Penny; his children Betty Anne (Thomas) Horning of Florida, Gail Marie (James) Osborne of Virginia, Mary Lou (Roy) McGeathy of Illinois, Sue Anne Addy (Keith Matz) of Whitmore Lake, Richard Joseph Jr. of Illinois, Therese Joan Neilson of Ohio, Peter Joseph (Cindi) of Bloomfield Hills, Dennis Joseph and David Joseph (Sherri) both of Caseville; grandchildren Daniel, Adam, Ethan, Sarah, Richard, Travis, Jaime, Jacob, Ben, Addy, Joey, Jeffrey, and Jennifer; and a great-grandson, Elijah.
He was preceded in death by his son Mark Joseph in 1994.
A funeral mass will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 26th at St. Roch Catholic Church with Fr. Ken Yaroch presiding. Burial will be in St. Roch Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-8PM Wednesday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville and from 10AM Thursday until the time of the mass at church. A scripture service will be at 7:00PM Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to St. Roch Church.
