Richard Charles DeLong, age 58, of Cass City, passed away suddenly on Saturday, February 12, 2011. He was born on January 1, 1953 in Novesta Township to the late Donald and Lucile (Loomis) DeLong. Dick was a lifelong resident of Novesta Township and a graduate of Cass City High School, class of 1972. Presently, he was employed at UPI, and throughout his life, he farmed with his dad and brothers, as well as other area farmers. Dick was an avid M.S.U. Spartan fan (favorite colors being green and white). He enjoyed showing pigs in 4H, and was an excellent judge of a “good” pig. Dick was a follower of the Tuscola County Fair and the Michigan State Fair. He loved family and family events - reunions, weddings, and graduations. Dick loved fishing and deer hunting. He is survived by his five siblings, Francis (Sharon) DeLong of Cass City, Duane (Denice) DeLong of Kingston, Connie (Manuel) Benitez of Cass City, Robert (Kathy) DeLong of Cass City, and Donna Lenhard and Dr. Larry Seale of Cass City; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great- nephews; and his aunts and uncles. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two nephews, Drew and Paul DeLong. A funeral service will be held at the Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Brad Speirs, Novesta Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be at Novesta Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Collon Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Paul DeLong 4H Scholarship Fund or the Richard DeLong family discretionary fund, c/o Robert Delong, 302 S.
