Richard Lee Farver, 78, a life-long Caseville resident, died Friday, January 23, 2015 at Waterman Hospital in Tavares, Florida.
Richard was born July 14, 1936 at home in Caseville to the late Thomas and Ethel (Hazard) Farver. He graduated from Pigeon High School in 1954. On December 1, 1956 he married Betty Anne Power in Caseville.
When he was younger he owned and operated Farver Hardwood Lumber in Caseville before establishing Farver Transport and Lake Transport, eventually retiring in 1992. Dick was a pilot and owner of Farver Field Airport in Caseville. He enjoyed snowmobiles, model airplanes, flying, boating, fishing, and the Detroit Tigers. Together with his wife, he split his time between Caseville in summer and Leesburg, Florida in the colder months.
He is survived by his wife Betty; daughters Sharon (Tim) Osentoski of Bad Axe and Beverley “Bee” (Craig) Gremel of Sebewaing; grandchildren Jeni, Jim, Tim, Denver, Danica and Michael; great-grandchildren Jailyn, Brett, Jordan, Matthew, Brady, Landon and Aislyn; and his sister Alice Hart of Lansing. He was preceded in death by his brothers Wallace, William and Lyle.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 Thursday, January 29th at the Caseville United Methodist Church with Rev. Linda Fuller officiating. Burial will be in Caseville Twp Cemetery.
Visitation will be 3-8 pm Wednesday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville and one hour prior to the service in church on Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Thumb Animal Shelter or Caseville Food Pantry.
