Richard L. Fitzgerald, age 70, of Caro died on Friday, August 3, 2007 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility. He was born on March 22, 1937 in Caro, to the late William and Berneice (Riley) Fitzgerald. Richard was a Caro High School graduate, and attained a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Central Michigan University. While in college he was in R.O.T.C. and then served in the U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps at Ft. Huachuca, Arizona, before returning to Caro to carry on the family business, Fitzgeralds. Upon selling the shop, he continued in the office supply business as an employee and again as an owner in Jackson. He retired in 2005 and returned to Caro. He enjoyed music, concerts, and was very involved in his work. In his early years in Caro, he was involved in the Jaycees. He was a member of the Methodist faith. He is survived by two sons, David Fitzgerald of Caro and William Fitzgerald of Orlando, Florida; and their mother, Luan Willbanks of Orlando, Florida; two brothers, James Fitzgerald of Caro and Robert and AnneMarie Fitzgerald of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; his nieces, AnneMarie (Jay) Smith of Atlanta, Georgia and Katie (Steve) Giammona of Beaufort, South Carolina; along with several cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Marlene. A memorial service will be held at the Collon Funeral Home on Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jerry Smith of the Caro United Methodist Church officiating. Cremation has taken place and burial will follow the service in the Indianfields Township Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimers Treatment & Research-Ramsey Foundation, 640 Jackson St., Saint Paul, MN 55101-2595.
