Richard “Dick” Fullmer, age 85, of Caro, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, October 20, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on February 4, 1939 in Caro to the late Frank B. and Josephine A. (Walsh) Fullmer, Dick spent almost all of his life rooted in the Caro community he cherished. A proud member of Caro High School’s class of 1957, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps alongside a group of several friends and classmates who felt driven by a sense of duty and camaraderie. On June 11, 1966, Dick married his high school sweetheart, Janet A. Beecher, at the Caro United Methodist Church. They shared fifty-five wonderful years together before Jan’s passing on January 15, 2022. After his honorable discharge, Dick and Jan briefly called Chicago home, then Big Rapids, where Dick worked as a lineman while Jan pursued her passion for cosmetology. Their journey later led them to East Lansing, where they both attended Michigan State University and Dick earned his master’s degree in business. After welcoming their two daughters they returned to Caro as a family, where they built their home and established Caro Rental and Jan’s Beauty Cottage. Dick was deeply involved in his community, a dedicated member of the Caro United Methodist Church, Michigan Rental Association, American Rental Association, Lions Club, Caro Moose Lodge, Caro Masonic Lodge, Caro Rotary Club, Tuscola County Fair Board, and the L.P. Gas Association. Dick's dedication to the community was acknowledged by the Caro Chamber of Commerce, who named him their Merit Recipient in 1996 and Citizen of the Year in 2009. Most recently, Caro Rental was awarded the Chamber's "Business of the Year" award in 2023. His devotion to Michigan State University was unwavering, proudly supporting the Spartans as an active member of the Tuscola County MSU Alumni Association and attending sporting events whenever he was able. Dick’s warmth, service, and spirit left an indelible mark on his community and all those who knew him.
Dick is survived by two daughters, Debbie Sue Fullmer and Bobbie Sue Fullmer; sister, Judy Krawczyk and her husband, Joe; nieces, Sue Ann Vollmar and Christina Anthony; and nephew, Kevin Krawczyk. In addition to his parents and wife, Dick was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Moore.
