Richard “Dick” Gemmill, 85, of Caseville, died Thursday, December 13, 2012 at his home while under hospice care.
Richard Charles was born October 27, 1927 in Cass City to the late Mark and Clara (Woodruff) Gemmill. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Warren. He served in the US Navy during World War II. He married Dorothy Craft on October 2, 1948 at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Warren. She preceded him in death on September 17, 2004.
He retired as a salesman for US Plywood. In 1990 he moved from Warren to his beloved home on Lake Huron in Lake Township. He was a member of the Caseville Eagles. He enjoyed golf and watching Detroit sports.
He is survived by his daughters Connie (Tom) Van Wieren of Rapid City and Nancy Lafferty of Troy; Granddaughters Megan and Emily Van Wieren; and brother Douglas of Warren. He was preceded in death by is brother Frederick.
Private memorial service will be held in the spring. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville.
