Richard L. Gillingham, 80, of Caseville Township, died Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Huron Medical Center in Bad Axe.
Dick was born March 4, 1937 in Bay City to the late John J. and Eunice (Boergert) Gillingham. He graduated in 1956 from Bay Port High School and entered the US Navy, serving two years active duty and then two years reserve. He married Elaine Tanata on May 14, 1960 in Jamestown, North Dakota.
He worked at Active Industries then Ford Motor-Steel Division in Dearborn. He moved from Garden City to Caseville Township in 1990. He enjoyed camping and spending winters in Florida.
Dick is survived by his wife Elaine; children Dan (Mary) of Greenville, SC, Annette (Dave) Kreznerski of Howell, Gary (Laura) of Orlando, FL, Alan (friend Michelle) of Marine City and Karen (Kurt) Durling of Haslette; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; sister Janet McCrimmon of Caseville; and daughter-in-law Mary (Tom) Walter of Sidney, OH. He was preceded in death by his son Dean, brother John and great-grandson Ryan.
Funeral services will be at 1:00pm Wednesday, December 20th at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville with Fr. Robert Pare officiating. Burial with military honors will be in New Bay Port Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11:00am Wednesday and continue until the service begins.
