Richard F Heintz age 69, lifelong resident of Pigeon, went to be with his Lord Sunday morning, October 9, following a long illness.
He was born January 18, 1947 in Pigeon to the late George and Emma (Christner) Heintz. Rich graduated from Laker High School in 1965.
On November 13, 1971, he was united in marriage to Birdie Lou Cove in Bad Axe.
After high school Rich went to Pontiac to work at General Motors a few years. When he returned to Pigeon he was employed at Active Industries, Elkton. From there in went to Berne Enterprises and Alton Mfg. He retired from J & L Painting in 2009.
Rich was an out of doors person, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also an avid card player especially poker and could bluff with the best. His big passion was being with the grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Birdie; two daughters, Katrena Metz of Bad Axe and Jennifer (Chris) Eden of Fenton; five grandchildren, Michael, Ashley, Kyle, Matt and Chloe; brothers, George (Pat) Heintz of Peck, Mike (Peg) Heintz of Pigeon, Tom (Diane) Heintz of West Virginia and Keith (Carol) Heintz of Bad Axe; sister-in-law, Rosemary Christner of Brown City and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death was his brother, Robert Christner and two nephews, Chris Heintz and Bobby Christner.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 12, at Evangel Life Assembly of God Church, Bad Axe. Rev. Daryl Harless, pastor and Rev. David Stewart, will officiate with burial in Grandlawn Cemetery, Pigeon.
The family will receive friends at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton from 2 to 9 PM Tuesday and at the church after 10 AM Wednesday.
Memorials may be directed to his church, Evangel Life Assembly of God or the family.
