Richard Charles Juengel

Richard Charles Juengel, age 91, of Sebewaing, passed away Friday evening, September 26, 2014 in the comfort of his own home.

Dick was born April 11, 1923 in Sebewaing, son of the late Theodore Traugott and Aldine Hannah (Hahn) Juengel. He graduated in 1941 from Sebewaing High School. After school, he served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theater and Okinawa as a Motor Machinist Mate 2nd Class on the LST #863 from 1944-1946.

He was united in marriage to Harriett Elizabeth Pacholka on June 22, 1946 in Bay City. She preceded him in death on September 24, 2000. He then married Faye Marek on August 27, 2009 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Sebewaing.

Dick had been employed as a tool & die maker at Sebewaing Tool & Engineering for 43 years before retiring in 1989.

Over the years he was a drummer in several bands, playing in the Thumb area until his hearing failed in 1973. He also played in the Oink band and the Pickle band. He was a musical instrument repairman and piano tuner for many years.

He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Sebewaing and life member of the Sebewaing American Legion Post # 293.

Surviving are his wife, Faye of Sebewaing; 2 sons and wives: Warren and Sandy Juengel of Sanford and Bill and Jan Juengel of Luther; step children: Robert (Ann) Prieskorn of Harrison, Diane (Gary) Conden of Sebewaing and Thomas (Georgia) Prieskorn of Washington state; 4 grandchildren and spouses: Todd (Karie) Juengel of Fremont, Kathy Gainforth of Sebewaing, Bridget (Dave) Johnson of Tustin, Heather Juengel of Leroy; 4 step grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren: Alicia, Micah and Haley Juengel, Nicole and Sydney Gainforth, Madeline and Tyler Johnson, Kendra Montague; 3 step great grandchildren; one sister, Geraldine Edler of Owendale; 3 nephews; 2 nieces; several great nieces and great nephews and cousins.

Preceded in death by 2 sister-in-laws, June Maxson and Phyllis Pacholka; 2 brother-in-laws, James Maxson and Charles Edler; and step son, Kenneth Prieskorn.

Visitation will be Monday, September 29, 2014 at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing from 2-8pm.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at Trinity United Methodist Church. Visitation will begin at the church at 10am until the time of service at 11am. Rev. Cindy Parsons officiating.

Burial will take place at Northlawn Cemetery in Sebewaing.

Memorial donations may be given to Trinity United Methodist Church or the Sebewaing American Legion.
