Richard Fields Juengling, 90, of Caseville, died Monday, February 29, 2016 at McLaren Bay Region Hospital in Bay City.
Richard was born August 20, 1925 in Detroit to the late William and Ruth (Fields) Juengling. At the age of 10 the family moved to Port Huron. Richard began his business career at age 14 by assisting his father who was the Detroit Free Press distributor in Port Huron, driving a truck and delivering papers. Following graduation from Port Huron High in January 1944 he immediately enlisted in the Army Air Force where he served as a crew member of a B-29 from 1944-1946. On June 17, 1945 he married his high school sweetheart Dorothy Ann Walker on the Air Force base in Alamogordo, New Mexico where he was stationed at the time. His wife of 70 years survives him and was at his side when he passed.
Richard supported his family through a successful sales career in the auto industry. Semi-retirement found him taking on route sales to occupy his time while also becoming an avid golfer. Other life-long interests include the stock market and he was never known to turn down playing most any card game.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy; sons Richard (Camille) of Saginaw and Frederic (Susan Senturia) of Chicago; son-in-law Michael Foley; grandchildren Patrick Foley, Neal (Kimberly Vermeech) Foley, Dillon Foley, Cameron Juengling, Karen Juengling, Kathryn (Matt) Olex and Jeanne (Bryan) Bolhuis; great-grandchildren Benjamin Olex, Lucy Olex, Logan Foley, Jada Bolhuis and Zander Bolhuis; sister Barbara (Chuck) Staiger of St. Clair. He was preceded in death by his daughter Judith Foley.
A funeral service will be at 1:00pm Friday, March 4th at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville with Rev. Karen Bouverette officiating. Burial will be 11:30am Tuesday, March 8th in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly.
Visitation will be 11:00am Friday until the time of the service at 1:00pm Friday. Memorials may be made to either the Alzheimer’s Association or Forgotten Harvest.
