Richard E. Kundinger

Richard Edgar Kundinger, age 79, of Caseville, died Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at the Huron Medical Care Facility in Bad while under hospice care.

Richard was born October 25, 1928 in Detroit to the late Frank and Irene (Fisher) Kundinger. His family moved to Caseville in 1947. He graduated from Bay Port High School in 1948. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Richard had been employed at Pigeon Manufacturing and Caseville Lumber.

After retiring, Richard became very active in Village and local politics. He served on the Caseville Village Council from 1994 until this past fall. He was the chairman of the DPW Committee and sat on the Water Board. He has previously served as a volunteer Caseville firefighter. He was a member of the Caseville American Legion. He enjoyed driving around town “keeping an eye on things,” playing euchre and going to the Bay Port Hotel with his friends to celebrate birthdays. He spent many years going to Trenary in the upper peninsula with his friends the Holmquists and others to hunt. He enjoyed giving treats to all the dogs he knew in the area and was greeted with waging tails and expectant stares whenever they saw that red truck of his pulling up.

He is survived by his son Charles Wilding of Tracy, California.

He is preceded in death by his daughter Cheryl Lynn, son Richard Allen and brother Robert.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 Noon Saturday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville with Chaplin Karen Bouverette of Heartland Hospice officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Caseville Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10AM Saturday until the time of the service at noon.

Pall bearers will be Jeff Rowe, Larry Smith, Charlie Stahl, Andy Nowak, Dave Quinn, and Tim Poisson.

Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice of Bad Axe or the Huron County Medical Care Facility.
