Richard "Rich" Lagos of Caro, age 71, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2019 at his residence. Rich was born April 5, 1948 in Caro, the son of the late Stanley and Mary (Urban) Lagos. After graduation from Caro High School in 1966, Rich was drafted into the United States Army and served in Vietnam. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, he accepted a position with Michigan Sugar Company in Caro where he worked as a machinist for forty-one years. In March of 1968, Rich married the former Linda Swaffer, and she survives him. Later that same year, they purchased their residence west of Caro. Rich and Linda spent their summers traveling in their motorhome throughout Michigan and the Carolina's, and spent their winters in Arizona. He enjoyed spending time fishing with his son, hunting, and has been a longtime NASCAR fan. Rich was a member of the Catholic faith, the Caro American Legion Post #7, the Vassar Eagles Aerie #2380, and considered himself blessed with good health and a wonderful family. The family wishes to extend its thanks to McLaren Hospice. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of fifty-one years, Linda; two children, Jeff & Sandra Lagos and their daughter, Alexandria, of Sunbury, Ohio, and Brenda & Bradley Bigham of Caro; and his aunts, uncles, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Rich was preceded in death by his remaining aunts and uncles. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Church in Vassar with Rev. Christian Tabares officiating. Military honors will follow under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the Caro American Legion Post #7. In keeping with Richard's wishes, cremation will follow the service. The family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 6:00 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Catholic Church for Mass Cards, McLaren Hospice or the Disabled American Veterans.
