Richard Lee Smith , age 89, of Gagetown, passed away peacefully in his home on February 7, 2023 under the care of hospice.

Richard was born in New Hope, Alabama on October 31, 1933, to Charles and Gertrude (Baker) Smith. He married Vivian Yenglin on January 25, 1964. She preceded him in death on July 31, 2017. He co-owned and operated Oakland Orthopedic and Smith Alpaca Acres with his wife. He enjoyed giving eleven "Alpaca Days" tours to the local community and children. He enjoyed farming, animals, country music, MSU basketball and Alabama football. He was proud of his family and especially enjoyed spending time with is grandchildren and great grandchildren. Richard will be remembered for being very polite and his willingness to help others. His baby blue eyes and huge smile brightened the room.

Richard is survived by his children: Debbie Williams, Timothy Smith, Roxanne (Charles) Hahn, Wonda (Jamey) Weirauch, Larry (Jodi) Smith and Corey (Lesley) Smith; 17grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; brother, Larry Joe Smith; and nieces and nephews.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter, Rebecca Worley and grandson, Jefferson Worley.

A memorial visitation will take place on Friday, February 10, 2023, at Smith Alpaca Acres, 5353 Owendale Rd., Gagetown, from 2pm-7pm.

Memorial donations may be given to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Thumb Octagon Barn & Agricultural Museum.
