Richard Lester

Richard Lee Lester of Kingston, age 81, passed away on Tuesday, May, 21, 2013 at Huron Medical Center in Bad Axe. He was born November 28, 1931 in Marlette, the son of the late Lewis and Jenette (Cole) Lester. Richard enlisted in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict serving aboard the USS TARAWA and saw every continent in the world. After years working in manufacturing and construction, Richard went to work for the Village of Kingston as a Department of Public Works employee where he worked until his retirement. In his retirement he enjoyed fishing. He was a member of the Kingston VFW Post #5317. Richard is survived by his wife, Delores Lester; eight children, Linda (Daniel) Niebauer of Marlette, William Gottler of Kingston, James Allen Gottler of Kingston, Stephen Gottler of Kingston, Nancy Croll of Willis, Texas, Jannette (Blane) Nichols of League City, Texas, Ronald (Wendy) Lester of Tennessee, and Allen (Nancy) Lester of Kingston; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by all of his siblings, and one son, Joseph Gottler. In keeping with Richard's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial remembrance will be held at the Kingston VFW Post #5317, 2719 Ross St., Kingston, MI 48741 on Sunday, June 2, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. with military honors to be rendered by the Kingston VFW Post and the U.S. Navy. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Kingston VFW Post #5317 or the Kingston Fire and Rescue.
