Richard Victor Nowaczyk, age 67 of Pigeon, passed away Friday, October 28, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital in Saginaw.
Born at St. Mary's Hospital in Saginaw on December 24, 1943, he was the son of the late Mack and Alice Katherine (O'Rourke) Nowaczyk, and attended Laker High School. On June 5, 1968 he began working for the Cooperative Elevator Company in Pigeon and retired February 1, 2010.
Richard was a very proud man; he loved his family very much and was loved equally by his family and many friends throughout the community. He enjoyed bowling, was a member of a pool and dart league, he played horseshoes, and was a member of The St. Francis Borgia softball team. He was a member of the Pigeon Historical Society, and was a 4th Degree Knight with the West Huron Council Knights of Columbus #8042. Richard was a member of the St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Pigeon, where he was an usher and assisted with the mass celebration.
Richard is survived by one brother and two sisters-in-law, Gerald and Bonnie Nowaczyk of Owendale and Grace Nowaczyk of Mesa, Arizona; nieces and nephews: Todd (Brenda) Nowaczyk, Debra (Jeff) Leinweber, Heidi (Rich) Perkins, Steve (Debbie) Nowaczyk, Tom Nowaczyk, Rick Nowaczyk, Vicky Nowaczyk, Tim (Lauri) England, and Scott Nowaczyk; seven great-nieces and great-nephews; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jerome.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 31, 2011 at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, with Fr. John Weis officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The Knights of Columbus Rosary will be 7:00 p.m. Sunday, October 30 at the Meyersieck-Bussema Funeral Home, Pigeon.
