Dick Oxley passed away on Friday, March 25, 2006 at the age of 83. He was born in Battle Creek, MI on April 28, 1922 to Clyde and Maude Oxley. He graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1941. On June 6, 1942, Dick married his beloved wife, Louise (Riley) Oxley in Caro and they lived there until 1970. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Caro, was a choir member, Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent and Deacon. Dick and Louise were in property management and in 1987 they formed the “Dick Oxley Band” and traveled the state fulfilling their musical dreams of the “Big Band Sound.” Dick was a self-taught drummer at age 12, and started playing his drums professionally at age 15. He loved his Faith, Family, Friends and his Music. Surviving are his five children, Jill (Keith) Kauffman of The Villages, FL, Susan (Douglas) Gordon of Oxford, AL, Craig (Rhonda) Oxley of Alpharetta, GA, Cozette Oxley of Lansing and Chris (Stuart) Bond of Roswell, GA; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. In 2004 his beloved wife of 61 years, Louise, passed away. Also preceding him in death were his parents and infant sister, Mildred Oxley.
